DJ Shadow
DJ Shadow’s classic
DJ Shadow's seminal 'Endtroducing' album is considered by most to be uncoverable – but Novation-sponsored 'Introducing' are not your average 'covers' band. The 1996 album inspired a generation. It made the Guiness Book of Records' as the world's first completely sampled album. Introducing take the whole thing full circle, and return those samples into live musicianship, in the image that DJ Shadow created them.
The band use a lot of kit on stage and with four members of the band employed here at Focusrite, there's no shying away from the technical side of things. At the core of the live performance are two Novation X-Station Keyboards and one Xiosynth 49 Keyboard. These connect to two Laptops, each running Native Instruments Kontakt 3 sampler, which run the complex custom created mutli-layered sample mappings required for the gig.
'Introducing' have been making waves on the festival circuit. Having played Festinho in 2008, they were picked up by Rob Da Bank who booked them for both Camp Bestival and Bestival in 2009. They also played Ireland's Electric Picnic festival in September and sold out the Camden Jazz Cafe in October. If you want to see this DJ Shadow extravaganza they've just been booked in for another show at the Jazz Cafe on December 3rd - but book your tickets quick as they are already selling fast!
