US Technical Support Engineer

The role:

As a Technical Support Engineer, the applicant will be responsible for helping to maintain the high level of customer service we provide. They will work as part of a global cross-functional team answering pre and post sales customer enquiries by phone and email, and working proactively to reduce the number of customer enquiries.

Core responsibilities:

  • Act as focal point for pre/post sales and technical enquiries via phone, email and Live Chat relating to the Focusrite and Novation product lines.
  • Recreate end-user setups to replicate issues reported in the field and submit bug reports to Focusrite UK headquarters.
  • Work closely alongside worldwide support team members. Maintain daily contact and feedback to UK Technical Support team common issues and complaints reported from the US customer base.
  • Monitor forum and social media posts for technical matters relating to Focusrite and Novation product lines and respond accordingly.
  • Create and maintain technical articles and documents to help reduce the number of customer enquiries.


Abilities, skills and experience required:

  • The ability and readiness to work well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of MIDI control, audio interfaces, home/studio recording setups and music production
  • Experience with Mac OS X and Windows systems
  • DAW knowledge (e.g. Pro-Tools, Logic, Cubase)
  • A polite and helpful phone manner

Role description


This role has the principal responsibility for creating business driven by US retail customer demand in accordance with the agreed US business goals.  This includes the creation and implementation of US-specific marketing plans that align with the broader global category plans. As manager of a growing US marketing team, this role will nurture the current US marketing team, further developing them into US marketing professionals. As a peer of the US Sales Director, and primary liaison with the HQ marketing team, this role is responsible for bringing modern US marketing intelligence to the direction of the US business.

Key responsibilities

  • Working with Focusrite HQ to bring a modern marketing viewpoint to US management direction
    • Influence the wider company social media strategy
    • Strategise through in-depth analysis of local google analytics
    • Create strategies to drive independent online user reviews
    • Improve effectiveness of end-user and channel ecomms
  • Manage and develop the US Marketing team
    • Create and implement quarterly US marketing plans, as agreed with the US Focusrite Novation Inc. President, Marketing Manger and Sales Director
    • Create and implement US-specific NPI plans, as agreed with the US team, relevant Marcomm category manager and Marketing Director
    • Creation and overall responsibility for the US Marketing budget
    • Creation and management of the US Artist and Public Relations strategy, in association with the global Artist and Public Relations team
    • Maintain a consistent brand image whilst remaining territory-relevant
    • Maintain consistent messaging throughout all promotional activities
    • Documentation of successful US marketing tactics
    • Commission US market research

Abilities and experience required

  • Substantial experience in creating and managing a team of modern
  • Clear understanding of the rudiments of digital marketing
    • Google analytics
    • Social media and online community behavior.
    • Channel-based online marketing tactics
  • Experience of both brand and channel-oriented marketing strategies
  • MI / pro audio industry experience in the US beneficial, but not essential

Role Overview

This role assumes direct responsibility for the financial performance (both revenue and contribution) of the global Focusrite RedNet business. As the linchpin of the global RedNet team this individual will define and then implement, utilising the experience and passion of a wider team, the RedNet Sales and Marketing strategy, such that it achieves or exceeds the Sales plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the global RedNet Sales & Marketing strategy
  • Develop annual RedNet sales budgets with revenue and contribution

  • Run and disseminate re-forecasts based on up-to-date information
  • Drive Sales Managers and Product Specialists to secure RedNet sales through the sales channel

Novation (and our sister brand, Focusrite) make a wide variety of music and pro audio products, from MIDI controller keyboards to high-end studio equipment. We’re looking for a great hardware and firmware design engineer to join our expanding team.

You'll work with us to specify, design, build and improve our products.  You'll evaluate new technologies, adopt and refine new working practices, write bombproof firmware, and most importantly design high quality, cost effective mixed signal electronics.

Embedded within our creative instruments team, your primary focus will be on keyboards, synthesisers and controllers - but you’ll also review other designs and support the rest of the hardware team.

An ideal candidate would be:

  • Widely experienced in analogue, digital and mixed signal electronics
  • Familiar with EMC, ESD and design for manufacture principles

We're looking for an outstanding software developer to join our team, to work on a variety of projects across the Focusrite and Novation brands.  We're hoping to find someone who can bring their software engineering experience and passion to our new projects, who also relishes the challenge of fixing fiendish bugs in legacy code.

You'll work with us to specify, design and build software and hardware products.  You'll evaluate new technologies, adopt and refine new working practices; and most importantly write lucid, high performance, maintainable code which will form the backbone of new product ranges.

You'll also help us maintain our portfolio, from kernel-mode drivers to iOS apps (via embedded DSP algorithms, VST plugins and web applications) - but don't worry, we won't expect you to be an expert in all of them!

An ideal candidate would be:

  • Widely experienced in audio, music and application software
  • Master of a variety of programming languages, platforms and operating systems (C++, Windows, iOS, and Mac OS X experience essential, Cocoa and C# also desirable)
